Extra Security = Danger?

Just read a forwarded online news by friend. It was about the man whose finger has been cut off by the team of carjackers when they found out that his Mercedes requires his finger print for authentication.

Well, somehow I feel that this guy is kinda unlucky. Initially this high-tech system will protect his Mercedes from theft. But now, it caused injury to him!
